Mysterious Leg Pain

I first started treating Diane three years ago. She is a very curious person and is very hard to convince. Diane mentioned that she’s been suffering from severe aches and pains with her right leg for at least ten years. She consulted with ten doctors previously in hopes to get rid of the pain, but none could solve nor identify the problem. Meanwhile, she took interest in seeing a personal trainer. Once examining her leg, I soon discovered the cause which was overlooked for so long. It turned out that Diane’s spine was slightly curved differently either from her body set up or over working herself while exercising with her trainer.

I began treatment on her back with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. After ten sessions, Diane’s leg pain almost completely stopped. She started to trust me and suddenly wanted to end the acupuncture treatment. I mentioned to her that it is a good idea for her to come back for treatment in other words, a tuneup. She then mentioned that she had limited availability unless it is really necessary.

About 5 months later, Diane called me again stating that the pain in her leg came back and asked me what to do. Immediately, I agreed for her to come back for acupuncture treatment. Diane was curious as to why the pain came back in her leg, so I told her that generally speaking in our daily lives we face a lot of stress which we don’t realize. The fact that Diane did not come back for a monthly maintenance allowed the stress to pile up and cause her body to have a reaction. People can have different results from this kind of reaction. For her, it was the muscular tension on her back and in turn the root of the spinal cord slightly changed cause of the nerve being touched. Due to Diane’s sensitivity, a very tiny touch can cause pain in her leg.

Currently, Diane is coming once a month for an acupuncture tune-up. So far, everything is fine, but there is another problem that occurred with her. The intake of a large meal had a negative impact on her leg and caused pain. She was puzzled as to why this problem occurred. So I told her it is because of the large meal she consumed, therefore it made the abdominal cavity have a change in pressure. This kind of change can effect the spinal curve due to her being too sensitive and her body is not able to compensate this kind of small change, just like how stress impacted her as we mentioned above. Consequently, having a smaller proportioned meal will be fine.

Case 2 - Danielle Troy

Patient Name: Daniella Troy

Sex: Female

Originally suffered from fibroids the size of an egg, endometriosis, and ovarian cysts. She does not like to take modern medicine. After acupuncture treatment, she had no more fibroids, cysts, nor endometriosis. We followed up with this patient for 2 years - everything was fine. In July 2010, she was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) by MRI so she continued with acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatment together with modern medication. On July 29, 2014: we had a 35 year old female patient, who uses a walker to walk and has had frequent fainting for 9 months.

By the age of 17 and 20, the patient had two children. After the deliveries, the patient’s health slowly deteriorated, fainting occasionally. The patient reported having muscle weakness, migraine headaches, dizziness, feeling extremely cold at all times, numbness, clogged throat feeling with nausea and lower back pain. The situation began getting worse during the last 9 months and left her handicapped for 7 months causing her to become reliant on a walker to walk.

So far she had been to her family’s physician, ENT doctor, ophthalmologist, and three neurologists including a renowned doctor from a well known hospital. She was also given various tests and all of the lab results were normal according to the numerous specialists. She was also prescribed various medications without any positive results but only worsening the condition. Her psychologist cleared her of any mental conditions. Her mother and grandmother both have had similar conditions, however, these occurred at around their age of 50. In our clinic on July 29th of 2014, based off all her complaints, pulse, and tongue appearance, our diagnosis and pattern differentiation according to TCM and acupuncture theory were : 1) yang deficiency 2) blood stasis
