The patient’s general situation: Hospitalized since Sept. 16, 2005. Stayed in ICU with respirator for 45 days

TCM/Acupuncture/Pattern Diagnosis: Flaccidity/paralysis, lung’s heat and Yangming weak, Guillain-Barre syndrome

Treatment and Results: acupuncture 13 times from Nov. 15 through Dec. 14, in 2005 and the patients situation was improved significantly and transferred to the Dept. of rehabilitation. We called the patient’s friend today and found out that he is fine but is in need of a wheelchair. His friend told us that this case affected the ICU significantly. Every one in the ICU believed that acupuncture helped his friend tremendously. Because of this case, one of the RNs who took care of him is taking acupuncture classes and is in her second year of acupuncture study now.
