Help for Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a serious nervous system problem. Sometimes it could be fatal. We have had an opportunity to help one of the most desperate patients.
In October 2005, there was a hospitalized patient from NYU in the ICU for 45 days with a respirator. Otherwise, he could not breathe. Since there were no results from modern medical treatment, the patient’s family found us and suggested the hospital accept acupuncture treatment. After treating the patient with acupuncture 3 times, he did not need the respirator anymore. In total, after 12 acupuncture sessions, he was dismissed from ICU and was transferred to the rehabilitative department. What we did during acupuncture treatment was just according to TCM theory and treatment principles. We chose the points accordingly. Everybody who took care of him in the hospital found this fascinating. Because of this success, one of the nurses who took care of him in the ICU started to learn acupuncture.
We followed up with this patient for 5 years. Everything is fine for him.
