Acupuncture – Pain Relief
Pain is the most common complaint, and everyone knows that acupuncture is effective for relieving it. Acupuncture can reduce P-substance, balance neurotransmitters, increase the ability to tolerate pain, etc.
Of course, there are many factors that cause pain. For example, if you have a neck/vertebrae problem and a nerve has been pinched, the pain will extend either from the head, fingers, arms, etc. The nerve has been pinched because the space between the vertebrae is getting smaller, and space has been compressed. The nerve is being touched. When people stay in the same position or are stressed out for too long of a time, the muscles will be tensed. Then, it will pull the vertebrae and make the space between the vertebrae smaller. In this case, what we need to do is just relax the muscles and increase the space between the vertebrae. The pinched nerve and thus pain will be relieved.
Another example is when a person has a stomachache caused by eating the wrong food, say, cold food. The patient at this moment will not only have a stomachache, but nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. This can be helped by acupuncture and TCM herbs almost right away. There are acupuncture points that can stop a stomachache like this right away. Meanwhile, the TCM doctor will suggest the patient take fresh ginger root juice because the juice can calm down the stomach and give the gastric traction relief.
Many people don’t know how fast and effective acupuncture is for pain. In most cases, the pain will stop as soon as the needle is inserted. For some patients, just one or two sessions are enough.
